Notes to Applicants

  • Applicants will be requested to present the HKID card and original copies of all credentials for verification. Those who submit application in-person may bring along the HKID card and original credentials for verification.
  • Application fee and handling fee for course exemption (if any) are NON-REFUNDABLE unless the class / programme is cancelled.
  • All documents submitted together with the application form will not be returned to applicants.  For unsuccessful applications, the documents and forms will be destroyed and the electronic files will be deleted.
  • Notes to non-local applicants – Part-time certificate/diploma programmes are generally not considered by the Immigration Department for visa purposes. For a non-permanent Hong Kong resident, it is his/her responsibility to check whether he/she can take the programme before making application.

  Admission to Higher Level Programmes

Most of the programmes are offered at both certificate and diploma levels. Yet, its progression is not automatic. To progress to a higher level of study, certificate graduates have to fulfill the entry requirements of the higher level programmes and apply for admission accordingly.

Applicants who are pursuing their last term of study in our certificate programmes may be granted a provisional offer for admission to higher level programmes based on the assessment of their relevant competencies. The student should have successfully completed the Certificate programme within one term after their provisional admission to the higher level programme. Should he/ she fails to do so, he/ she will be withdrawn from the higher level programme immediately.

  Exemption and Transfer of Credit

  • The School offers to applicants a system of credit transfer and exemption. If applicants believe that they possess a demonstrated competence (e.g. passed relevant courses in public examinations or other institutes) equivalent to the learning outcome of the course to be studied and would like to apply for exemption, they have to submit a request for exemption with relevant certificate(s) / academic report(s) when applying for admission. Transfer of credit will be considered for courses enrolled prior to registration in the programme.
  • The maximum number of courses that can be exempted and credit-transferred in all Certificate / Diploma Programmes is limited to half of the total number of programme hours. However, the maximum exemption in Advanced Diploma / Professional Diploma/Diploma programmes is one quarter of the total number of programme hours. In the case that the number of exempted/transferred credit course(s) (including the course(s) being studied) has exceeded the maximum allowance, applicants should submit explanations and approval will be granted at the School's discretion.
  • A handling fee of HK$200# per course will be levied on applications for exemption with public examination results, SCE's Course Exemption Examination results, or credentials from our School or other institutions. Applicant may refer to the Exemption List for reference.
  • For applicants who select the Fixed Study Mode, tuition fee of an exempted part or credit-transferred course(s) will be deducted from the programme fees. The deducted tuition fees which are calculated on an hourly basis proportionally will be reimbursed in a reverse order of instalment payment number. Applicants are still required to pay the full fees of 1st instalment of programme fees. The deducted tuition fees will not be reimbursed to the student concerned if he / she has withdrawn from the programme.
  • All applications for exemption / transfer of credit must be made at the time when applicants apply for admission. Late application or qualification obtained after admission will not be considered. All applications are considered on a case-by-case basis.

Tuition Fee Payment

  • Payment of tuition fees is on an instalment basis.
  • Tuition fee paid is NON-REFUNDABLE unless the class / programme is cancelled.

  Class / Programme Cancellation

The School reserves the right to cancel any class / programme.
